star cement is planning an expansion of the lumshnong limestone mining project at village lumshnong, dist. east jaintia hills, meghalaya from 0.9 mtpa to 2.5 mtpa. the estimated cost of the project is rs. 255 million. the limestone will be used for captive cement plant in the same location. perfact enviro solutions is the environmental consultant. the project is waiting for environmental clearance. according to moef sources, opencast mechanized mining will be adopted. the mining lease area is 70 hectares. the life of mine will be about 13 years.
