sew nyukcharong chu power corporation, group company of sew infrastructure, is planning the 96 mw nyukcharong chu hydro electric project on river nyukcharong chu in dist. tawang, arunachal pradesh. work on the project will commence in 2013 and is planned for completion in 2017. [info as of: dec. 15] sew nyukcharong chu power corporation, an spv of sew energy & government of arunachal pradesh, is planning the 96 mw nyukcharong chu hydro electric power project on river nyukcharong chu, dist. tawang, arunachal pradesh. smec (india) is the consultant. the estimated cost of the project is rs. 9.959 billion. the project is in investigation stage. the project is waiting for environmental clearance. equipment supplier is yet to be appointed. work on the project is expected to commence in h1 2016 and is planned for completion in 2020. according to moef sources, the project envisages construction of 22 m high barrage at 2.3 km upstream of the confluence of mago chu & nyukcharong chu. the project is a run-of-the-river scheme. total land requirement is about 36.83 hectares. an underground powerhouse is proposed on the left bank of the river with 3 units of 32 mw capacity each.
