sew energy, group company of sew infrastructure, is planning the 60 mw new melling hydro electric project (hep) on river new melling, dist. tawang, arunachal pradesh. work on the project will commence in 2013 and is planned for completion in 2017. [info as of: dec. 15] sew new melling power corporation, an spv of sew energy & government of arunachal pradesh, is planning the 90 mw new melling hydro electric power project on river mago chu, dist. tawang, arunachal pradesh. smec (india) is the consultant. the estimated cost of the project is rs. 9.38 billion. the project is in investigation stage. the project is waiting for environmental clearance. equipment supplier is yet to be appointed. work on the project is expected to commence in h1 2016 and is planned for completion in 2020. according to moef sources, the project envisages construction of 20.5 m high barrage at 8.23 km upstream of the confluence of mago chu & nyukcharong chu. the project is a run-of-the-river scheme. total land requirement is about 29.34 hectares. an underground powerhouse is proposed on the right bank of the river with 3 units of 30 mw capacity each.
