gail (india) is planning the 2,500 kms jagdishpur-phulpur-haldia pipeline project in bihar, uttar pradesh and west bengal. the estimated cost of the project is rs. 100 billion. phase-i of the pipeline will have a capacity of 16 mmscmd which would be augmented to 32 mmscmd in phase-ii. the pipeline project will connect eastern india with the national gas grid. the pipeline will benefit in the 4 states and lead to setting up of city gas networks in 17 major cities of the region, i.e, varanasi, allahabad, patna, gaya, chhapra, siwan, gopalganj, mujaffarpur, bettiah, bhagalpur, bokaro, dhanbad, ranchi, jamshedpur, asansol, durgapur and kolkata. the pipeline will supply feedstock/fuel to fertilizer and power plants and major industries located in the region. the company has already started activities related to detailed survey of the pipeline route. the pipeline will consist of 922 km main line (36 inch diameter) and 1,128 km spur lines and feeder lines (12 to 30 inch diameter). the compressor station will be located at haldia. the company has started activities related to detailed survey of the pipeline route. the survey will include engineering survey (topography, population density index, soil resistivity and soil investigation survey) and cadastral survey (collection of revenue details of every village along the route along with ownership details). the construction activities will commence once the survey is completed. [info as of: may 15] gail (india) is implementing the jagdishpur-haldia natural gas pipeline project in west bengal. the pipeline will serve as the energy highway to carry the fuel to four states i.e. eastern uttar pradesh, bihar, jharkhand and west bengal. the company is taking up the first phase of this pipeline which involves laying of approximately 750 km of pipeline at an estimated expenditure of rs. 39,570 million. the capacity of phase-i is 7.4 mmscmd and that of the entire pipeline will be 16 mmscmd. while supplying gas to anchor load customers like gorakhpur & barauni fertilizer plants and barauni refinery, the first phase of the pipeline will also cater to domestic needs through cgd development in cities like varanasi and patna when the authorizations for the same are accorded by petroleum & natural gas regulatory board (pngrb). 413 km of pipeline will be laid in bihar covering 9 districts (kaimur, rohtas, aurangabad, gaya, nalanda, patna, sheikhpura, lakhisarai and begusarai) in first phase and additional 200 km of pipeline covering four more districts (chappra, siwan, gopalganj and west champaran) will be laid in subsequent phases. the company is committed to expand its current network to 15,000 km within 5 years. civil work is in progress for phase-i. the project office in patna, which will serve as a nodal centre to facilitate the companys construction activities for the pipeline, was also inaugurated on 25th may, 2015. [info as of: sept. 15] gail (india) is implementing the jagdishpur-haldia pipeline project covering bihar, uttar pradesh, jharkhand and west bengal. an investment of over rs. 23,000 million is expected to be made in bihar on this project. the pipeline welding of 12 inch pipeline connecting hfcl barauni to iocl barauni commenced on 15th september, 2015 at barauni, marking the first phase implementation of the project. the phase-i of pipeline project consists of laying of trunk pipeline from phulpur (allahabad) to dobhi (gaya) for a length of 341 km and spur pipeline connectivity to barauni and patna from dobhi for a length of 228 km. this gas network will supply fuel to major industries such as the barauni refinery and the barauni fertilizer plant, which will be revived, besides power and steel plants. the pipeline will also help in setting up of city gas networks in major cities of bihar including patna.
