western coalfields is planning an expansion of the new majri ug to oc coal mining project at village majri, dist. chandrapur, maharashtra from 0.8 mtpa to 1.2 mtpa. mining lease area is 479.16 hectares. the estimated cost of the project is rs. 3,397.6 million. the coal linkage is to thermal power plants of mahagenco and miscellaneous customers. total geological reserves are 12.0 mt. mining will be carried out using shovel-dumper combination. the life of mine is 11 years. mining plan has been approved by the companys board. environmental clearance has been received.
