sarvesh refractories is planning the lunghar chromite mining project at villages sirohi and lunghar, dist. ukhrul, manipur on 132.781 hectares ml area. the estimated cost of the project is rs. 50 million. the project has been applied & waiting for environmental clearance. the mining work is expected to commence in 5-6 months. according to moef sources, the operation of mine will be fully manual by opencast method of mining. total demonstrated reserve (proved and probable reserve) is 92,808 tones. the production capacity of the mine is 10,531 tpa. based on current exploration data, the life of the mine is 9 years.
