piccadily sugar and allied industries is planning an expansion of its grain/ molasses-based distillery from 70 kld to 130 kld & a new 2 mw co-gen power plant at village hamjheri, dist. patiala, punjab. the project will come up within its existing 70-acre plant premises. the estimated cost of the project is rs. 470 million. the project is waiting for environmental clearance. according to moef sources, the project will entail installation of unit-ii of 60 kld molasses-based ethanol plant. power requirement of 1.2 mw will be sourced from the 2.0 mw co-gen power plant and dg set. a 25 tph boiler will be installed and based on bagasse/ rice husk/ coal and biogas as available fuel options. this boiler will operate mainly to feed steam to molasses based operations and 2 mw power generation from turbine. the project will be completed within 3 years of commencement.
