government of andhra pradesh, department of ports, is planning construction of 9 passenger jetties in andhra pradesh. the government proposes to develop non-major/ small/ medium ports in order to boost coastal shipping in the country. financial support is being provided to major ports/ non-major ports/ state governments for creation of infrastructure to promote movement of cargo/passengers by sea/ national waterways under central sector scheme assistance to coastal shipping berths. this central sector scheme has been merged with sagarmala programme with the approval of ministry of finance with effect from 06/09/2016. dprs for two passenger jetties at bheemunipatnam and kalingapatnam have been submitted and are being examined by ministry of shipping. the dprs for other passenger jetties are yet to be submitted by the government of andhra pradesh.
